# Independent Thermador repair across St. Johns County

Thermador is the broadest line we work on, which means one house can have four Thermador appliances failing for four unrelated reasons.

![Close work on a sealed gas burner set into a granite countertop, the cap removed and the flame ports visible.](https://stjohnscountyappliance.com/img/cooktop-service-03.webp)

Sealed burners, star-pattern ports: cleaning is the repair more often than anyone expects.

What people call us about

## Symptoms we see on Thermador in this county

- Gas burner lights but will not stay on the lowest simmer setting
- Induction element cuts out under load, then resumes after it cools
- Refrigeration column runs but the freezer column beside it drifts warm
- Dishwasher runs far longer than the time it displayed at the start
- Steam oven produces visibly less steam or takes longer to generate it
- Wall oven door hinge no longer holds the door against the seal
- Hood or downdraft blower cuts out intermittently under high speed

Symptoms, not fault codes. We describe what an appliance does rather than quoting a code we
have not read off your machine.

Thermador covers more of a kitchen than anything else on this site. Gas and
induction cooktops, professional ranges, wall ovens, steam and speed ovens,
warming drawers, refrigeration and freezer columns, wine columns, dishwashers,
ventilation hoods and downdraft systems. A single St. Johns County kitchen can
carry five of them, and when two fail in the same month the causes are usually
unrelated. Diagnosing them as one problem wastes a visit.

## Cooking side

Gas burner faults sort into three groups quickly. A burner that lights and
then drops out at low flame is almost always a simmer-setting or valve-orifice
issue rather than an ignition one. A burner that will not light at all, on a
cooktop where the others do, is normally the igniter or its lead. A burner that
lights and then relights the whole array is a spark-module fault.

The star-shaped burner ports Thermador uses spread flame further across the
pan base than a ring, which is a real advantage and also means a boil-over
blocks more ports at once. A large proportion of “burner is weak” calls are a
cleaning job on the cap and the ports, and we would rather tell you that on the
first visit than sell a part.

Induction is different: it fails by cutting out. An induction element that
works from cold and stops after fifteen minutes under a heavy pan is describing
a thermal shutdown, and the cause is nearly always cooling — the fan intake
under the cooktop is blocked, the cavity beneath it has been closed in by a
cabinet modification, or the fan itself has slowed. In coastal 32082 kitchens
we also see corrosion on the power board’s connections, which is a separate
story with a similar symptom.

## Cold side

Thermador refrigeration columns are separate machines that happen to sit next
to each other behind matching panels. A refrigerator column and a freezer
column share a look, not a sealed system. When someone tells us the freezer is
fine but the fridge is warm, that is not a puzzling contradiction — those are
two independent units and one of them has a fault.

The plumbed ice maker inside the freezer column degrades rather than fails, and
it is worth knowing why nothing ever reports it. The control runs a timed fill
rather than a metered one, so anything that reduces how much water arrives in
that window under-fills the mould and produces no fault code at all. Cubes get
smaller, then hollow, then arrive in partial harvests as the release cycle
stretches.

Since a restricted supply and a failing fill valve produce that identical
progression, pressure at the appliance connection gets measured before either
is quoted. On a column that connection is behind the unit, which is one more
reason the access question comes first.

## Dishwashers

Thermador dishwashers sort into the same four systems as any other make — the
drain path, spray pressure, the heating circuit, and the door with its latch
and seal — and the value is in checking them in that order rather than in the
order they are guessed.

The one worth explaining is cycle length, because it is the complaint most
often mistaken for a fault. A machine that displayed two hours and ran three
has usually not failed. It extends the cycle rather than proceeding cold, so a
long run is a report about how fast water is reaching temperature: the incoming
supply temperature first, then the heating circuit, then the sensor that
decides temperature has been reached. Two of those three cost nothing to check.

A top rack coming out dirtier than the bottom is a pressure symptom rather than
a wash-programme one, because the top rack is furthest from the pump and shows
a loss first. Spray arms that will not turn freely, restricted jets and a
circulation pump losing performance are the three causes, in that order of
likelihood — and loading is worth ruling out before any of them, since a sheet
pan across the lower rack shadows the entire upper spray path.

## Appliance types we cover on this make

Built-in refrigeration

### [Built-in refrigeration repair across St. Johns County](https://stjohnscountyappliance.com/appliances/refrigeration/)

Built-in refrigeration is repaired around a cabinet opening, not replaced out of one. That single fact changes what is worth doing when it fails.

Dishwashers

### [Dishwasher repair, and the four systems worth checking in order](https://stjohnscountyappliance.com/appliances/dishwashers/)

Most dishwasher calls are one of four systems, and they are worth checking in a fixed order because three of them can imitate the fourth.

Ranges & cooktops

### [Range, rangetop and cooktop repair in St. Johns County](https://stjohnscountyappliance.com/appliances/ranges-cooktops/)

Cooking appliances never meet the water supply, so their failures come from ignition, heat control, cooling airflow and the coastal and storm environment.

Wall & steam ovens

### [Wall oven and steam oven repair in St. Johns County](https://stjohnscountyappliance.com/appliances/wall-ovens/)

A conventional wall oven fails mechanically and predictably. A steam oven adds a whole second machine behind the cavity wall, with its own way of going wrong.

The self clean cycle would start and then abandon itself. He traced it to a door lock motor that was not driving fully home, replaced the assembly and ran a shortened clean through to prove it. No trouble since.

Our induction top kept throwing a fault and shutting the zone down. He found the underside fan intake carpeted in dust and one power board connector browned. He cleaned the intake but the board took weeks to arrive.

Frost was building along the ceiling of the freezer drawer. He found the drawer seal folded under at one corner and the defrost sensor reading badly out. Both replaced and it has stayed clear since.
